Solving Token Complexity
As a Senior Product Designer on the Workday UX Team, I’ve spearheaded the creation of semantic tokens, future-proofing our design system for seamless theming and a broader visual refresh. This initiative directly addressed the challenge of an unorganized color palette within Figma. Previously, a vast number of primitive colors and confusing semantic color styles made consistent UI selection a time-consuming guessing game for app designers. My solution – implementing a well-defined semantic token system – streamlined the design workflow, empowered designers with clear color options, and paved the way for a more unified visual language across the platform.
